My life is full

| | Comments (0)

I find myself motivated to do so many things... too many things, and I must now figure out what to cull from my realm of current experiences. It's a dilemma, and I would like to say more at this moment, but I'm hot as hell even though it's night, and I have way too much to do for other creative endeavors. I am sure this subject will keep me busy on my blog for days to come, however. Stay tuned for the introspection.

Cooking is Alchemy

The art of cooking is looked upon by our culture as anything from mundane to high art, but what is most often overlooked is that the act of cooking is both chemical and alchemical in nature. Chemically, we are taking elements and molecules in particular states and configurations, applying heat and kinetic energy in particular amounts at particular timings, enacting chemical and biological workings on these materials, and thereby transforming the starting materials into a final altered state. Alchemically, we are transforming life, organized in multivarious facets, either while still living, or while no longer living, through the actions of force, will and nature, into an aesthetic experience as well as a sustenance that feeds life once again. In cooking, we transform base materials into something with meaning, significance. If food had only the meaning of sustaining our bodies, we would probably eat grain and raw vegetables and animal flesh, and be done with it. Instead, food travels with us through all of our signficant religious, personal and social events, our casual gatherings, and every day involves decisions we make that are a vital component to our family experience and self-expression.

National Talk Like A Pirate day is in 5 days -- be ready, maytees!

You are The Cap'n!

Some men are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any man that stands between them and the mantle of power. You never met a man you couldn't eviscerate. Not that mindless violence is the only avenue open to you - but why take an avenue when you have complete freeway access? You are the definitive Man of Action. You are James Bond in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. Your swash was buckled long ago and you have never been so sure of anything in your life as in your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off their head if they show any sign of taking you on or backing down. You cannot be saddled with tedious underlings, but if one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.

Goin' on a diet

| | Comments (1)

Okay, so today I started my first day on it's-weight-watchers-because-i'm-using-the-point-system-but-it's-not-because-I'm-not-joining-the-cult diet, and I'm assisted by this cool palm pilot program that keeps track of all my eating-point-spending mechanisms, which is a good thing, but I'm hungry, which is a bad thing. Just gotta get used to it because I am at the upper limits of my 'I'm too fucking fat, but I can save myself' spectrum, and any more weight moves me into the 'why should I even fucking try' category, which is certain death. OH, and sentence breaks are for pussies. I want a muffin.

It's 3:17 AM, and I've been frantically working to install a wiki system on my server. The reason I've done this is so that my good friend and creative partner Jason and I can work to put together materials that will eventually be comic scripts for an epic sci-fi comic, which we will just for now call 'Horizon'. I can't tell you much yet, but we are both fired up, so now I have the tools in place to make our work much easier. Yay me. Man I'm tired. Okay, I'm off to bed. Hopefully I have something more interesting to say later today.
