which is a shame, because Heinlein's original Starship Troopers _book_ was freaking awesome. It was written in 1959, and was waaaaay ahead of its time wrt the technology etc... Gesture-based human/computer interfaces. HUDs. Positional tracking built into a helmet, ala the Alien ping rangefinder. Written at a time when "real" computers filled warehouses.
I don't remember Heinlein penning a "Starship Troopers II" novel... Oh, but there are all of those pulp novels based on Troopers. That's probably where the movies came from.

Heya Chuck. I checked out the IMDB and, as it stands, Paul Tippet did, in fact, do the visuals for the first film. I find his lack of boobs in his film disturbing, though.
